Bio

Feng Hao (Ph.D., 2015, Washington State University) is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of South Florida. Feng has three major areas of research. One is to study public opinion and behavior about the environment. The other involves examining anthropogenic drivers of climate change and renewable energy deployment. The third is to address the pandemic and understand American’s response to COVID–19 (e.g., mask-wearing, vaccine uptake, etc.). His research is quantitative, and he employs different statistical techniques such as multilevel regression, fixed-effects regression, and structural equation modeling to study various social-environmental-health topics. Findings demonstrate how factors at different levels can generate stark variations in environmental concern, how changes in anthropogenic factors over time can influence climate change and the landscape in renewable energy deployment, and how we can study the heterogeneity underlying public response to the pandemic that is shaped by numerous factors in either a direct or an indirect way.
