Kris is a first year PhD student in the Sociology department. He received a BS in Psychology from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and a MS in Higher Education Administration from St. Cloud State University. Through his undergraduate and graduate work he has become increasingly curious about gender, sexuality, and the experiences of queer students in higher education. His master’s thesis was a quantitative study entitled “The Effect of the LGBT Resource Centers on Student Success and Engagement.” This study explored the measurable effects that LGBT Resource Centers can have on the GPA, retention, and overall success of queer students.

He has also worked in higher education as an LGBT Resource Center Director where he delivered a variety of presentations on queer identity.

Kris’ current research interests are gender and sexuality, education, comparative sociology, and queer theory. He hopes to explore the consequences of asking about gender and sexuality on college admissions documents, as well as exploring the perceived “necessary” trajectory of queer social movements.
