I am continuing my studies with the Department of Sociology at USF after earning an M.A. in 2016, and B.A. in sociology from New College of Florida in 2013. My academic concentrations are urban sociology, community development, space and place, and place attachment.

These concentrations are derived from my first passion, urban sociology, as well as experience working with community-based organizations and nonprofits in both Sarasota and Tampa since 2010. Since moving to Tampa in 2014, my sociological interests have broadened to include urban redevelopment and public-private partnerships. This is largely due to interdisciplinary studies in the School of Public Affairs, as well as becoming exposed to and witnessing the scale of redevelopment the City of Tampa is considering, planning, and undertaking.

As a first year student in the doctoral program, I will pursue this interest in urban redevelopment, as well as strengthen my focus on the interactional dimensions of people and places.
